Leon Ford - About me…

I’m Leon Ford, an experienced sound designer, editor and mixer with a passion for creating immersive, high-quality audio that brings stories to life — whether for podcasts, radio, commercials or film.

Over the years, I’ve worked on most genres: radio drama, music sessions, documentaries, animation for radio and TV . I know how to shape sound to suit different formats, audiences, and production demands — always with attention to detail and a focus on creative storytelling.

I’m a calm problem solver and a collaborator, keen to help bring out the best in every project. If you’re experienced, I can speak your language. If you’re new to audio, I can help guide you through the process to make sure you feel supported every step on the way.

What I Offer

  • Location Recording
    Using Sennheiser and Sony microphones, along with Sound Devices and Tascam recorders, I can capture high-quality audio on location — whether it’s a remote contributor for a podcast or a complex multi-mic setup.

  • Editing & Mixing
    I use Pro Tools with a carefully selected range of high-end plugins from Waves, iZotope, Native Instruments, and AudioEase to sculpt the sound. Monitoring is done on Genelec loudspeakers with professional metering, ensuring everything meets broadcast or platform-specific standards.

  • Broadcast & Postproduction Expertise
    I spent many years at the BBC, working across radio and TV as a sound engineer and dubbing mixer. This gave me a solid foundation in high-pressure, high-quality production environments. I also worked as a BBC Operations Manager, overseeing key broadcast workflows and supporting production teams at every stage.
